- Responsible Investment
We recognise that the management of environmental and social responsibilities is subject to many factors, and take into account the particular circumstances, industries and locations in which the companies operate.
We've produced guidelines on responsible investment to explain how we evaluate the environmental and social policies of the companies in which we are (or might be) an investor.
Our Ethical Funds Advisory Group
The Standard Life Ethical Funds Advisory Group
Standard Life Investments manages a number of ethical funds. It’s the role of our Ethical Funds Advisory Group to make sure our ethical policy is followed across our range of ethical funds.
Three individual investors in our ethical funds plus a number of senior Standard Life employees, including the fund managers, sit on our Ethical Funds Advisory Group. Chaired by Standard Life's Group Operations Director, the Group’s role is to oversee our ethical funds. It meets every six months to ensure our policies and procedures are applied correctly, and accurately reflect the views of those invested in these funds.
Committee members work to keep informed on the ethical issues which are of concern to investors. They also monitor ethical issues through reports from our responsible investment team and presentations by organisations involved in issues of concern.
Taking your views on board
We have undertaken our annual survey of ethical investor sentiment for over a decade. Asking for the opinions of our investors in this way allows us to make sure the issues that matter to them remain at the forefront of our ethical investment strategies.
